Children’s Services Assessments

There are many ways in which our consultants and Independent Social Workers (ISWs) can help lightened the work load for your team or service. Have a look at what we offer below, then contact us with your requirements.  One of your unique offer is our:
Case Review and Good Practice (child and family assessments)

Our team and associates have worked for 46 local authorities as social workers, senior practitioners, advanced practitioners, deputy team members, team managers, child protection conference chairs and independent review officers. Discussions about the various assessments we have completed and the local authorities’ approach generated some interesting points.

We considered our experience and the research evidence relating to child and family assessments for child protection conferences. There are many outstanding examples of assessments with evidence of good practice. Yet,  many local authorities have failed to implement a system that identifies quality assessments and uses this information to improve practice. There is also a lack of peer-reviewed research to support the efficacy of domestic abuse intervention programmes in child protection cases.

To address these challenges, we suggest that managers and Independent Review Officers (IRO) who chair child protection conferences are ideally placed to identify child and family assessments and evidence what works. Such a strategy can help local authorities train newly-qualified social workers and develop good practices. They will also have evidence to commission interventions that produce results.

Parenting Assessment
We offer quality assessments undertaken in accordance by ISW who are PAMS or Parent Assess trained. with the client’s guidance – so if you would like our ISW are PAMS and Parent Assess trained. Working within the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families,” we use a trauma-informed approach to systematically collect and analyse information to support interventions and professional judgement. Our assessments take account of the three domains in the Framework, adverse experiences and consider diversity and difference.

We always put children at the centre of all our assessments, so we will always prioritise their safety, health, and well-being and ensure their voice is an inherent part of the assessment. We utilise various assessment approaches and tools to complete direct work with children and adults.
